Under the Sea Exhibit

Since the nineteenth century, Oregon’s newspapers regularly told tales of the mysterious creatures known to haunt the Pacific’s depths. From killer serpents and giant squid to little sea squirts, newspaper accounts of life below the water’s surface often muddled both fact and fiction. Join Hayley Brazier, exhibit designer and Ph.D. candidate in the Department of History, to explore the historical perceptions of Oregon’s marine species through the lenses of print and art.
